Introduction to Hamilton City Brass Auxiliary and Brass Factory Bands

Welcome to the band...

This is a blog celebrating music played by the Hamilton City Brass Auxiliary and Brass Factory Bands.

Brass Banding with Hamilton City Brass is so much fun, it provides opportunities for people to learn to play brass instruments:

  • Cornet, Tenor Horn, Flugal Horn, Baritone, Euphonium, Tenor and Bass Trombone, E flat and B flat Basses and an accompaniment of percussion instruments (including timpani, drum kit, xylophone, glockenspiel bass drum, maracas, castanets, Tamborine etc).
  • Playing in a band
  • Socialising with like minded music loving people
  • Play publicly - i.e. rest homes or public displays
  • Compete in competitions, local, regional and nationally

This is a family friendly activity for people of every age. Hamilton City Brass Factory beginners band  has children as young as eight to beginning adults supported by more experienced players.  The Auxiliary Band has players as young as 11 to a player in their 90s.

Presently (2024-2025 season) the Musical Director for Hamilton Brass Factory is Tracey Seifert. If you are a beginner musician and would like to play in a brass band rehearsals are usually during the school term, Tuesday Nights starting at 6pm. I have decided to leave these old brass factory photos up because they feature pictures of some of our youth musicians who have gone from Brass Factory to Hamilton Auxiliary to Hamilton City Brass. The three bands are all in the same organisation so it is great to see learners become improved players and performers. Some have gone on to other activities or different bands around the country, but they were very much part of the Brass Factory journey back in the day. I wonder, are there some you recognise??
